Need Floor Removal While Living at Home in Las Vegas?
Most of our residential jobs happen with the family still living in the house. Here is how that works in practice.
Your old floor has to come out, but you still need to live in the house while the Las Vegas demolition crew works. Before hiring, ask which rooms will remain usable and what the plan is for dust, pets and access.
Plan which rooms stay open
Before work starts we walk the house with you and decide the order. Bedrooms, a bathroom and some way to get in and out usually stay usable. If the kitchen floor is coming up, we talk about when that happens and how long you will be without it, based on what we find.
Separate the work area
Floor removal is noisy and it is not dust free — we say that plainly. We isolate the rooms we are working in with plastic barriers and zippered doors, cover return air vents, and ask that the HVAC be managed so it is not pulling dust through the house. Our post on dust containment goes into this in more detail.
We will not promise that you can use every room while it is being demolished or that the work will be dust free. We can walk the house with you, agree on a workable sequence, use plastic barriers and discuss negative air and HEPA equipment for the space. The right plan depends on which floors and exits are affected.
If you are comparing crews now, see our floor removal work and the Las Vegas valley service areas. Call (702) 985-1599 for a free estimate; tell us what is coming out and what the next trade needs.
Kids, pets and safety
- Keep children and pets out of the work zone completely while machines are running
- Plan a quiet space for pets away from the noise
- Expect exposed nails, tack strip and sharp tile edges until cleanup is done
- Agree on a clear route in and out that does not cross the work area
Noise and working hours
Scrapers, hammers and saws are loud. We agree start and finish times with you and respect HOA rules where they apply. If someone works from home, tell us, and we will try to schedule the loudest work around the most important hours.
Debris out the same day
Because our crew hauls its own debris, broken tile and old flooring leave with us instead of sitting in the side yard. That matters when you are living there and do not want a pile of sharp material near the kids.
Is it right for your house?
Some jobs — a whole-home tear-out with every room affected, for example — are easier if the family can be away for part of it. We will tell you honestly if we think that is the case. Our interior demolition page explains how we sequence larger jobs, and our floor removal page covers the day-to-day setup.
